This is the portfolio of Brit Blankenship, a designer-writer-strategist living in Atlanta. She currently works at Matchstic as lead idenity designer. Her work also includes art direction, naming, messaging, brand strategy, and leading the intern/fellowship program. This cross-pollination of thought and skill points back to a deep curiosity most likely birthed while pursuing a BFA along with magazine/photojournalism degrees at the University of Georgia.

A fascination with connecting the seemingly unrelated allows her to remain a forever student, a sentiment she shares with Michael Beirut—“use design as a secret disguise to infiltrate whatever world you want to go into.”

With that belief, you might not be surprised to find Brit outside the studio voraciously reading, studying the cultural zeitgeist and its implications on brands (vice versa), traveling, or practicing yoga.

Prior to Matchstic, she accumulated experience at Son&Sons in Atlanta, Moosylvania in St. Louis, and has worked in events, photography and freelanced for nearly ten years. Over that time she has partnered with a wide-range of clients from start-ups and non-profits to corporations, places, events and products. She recently ended a three-year stint co-producing the Atlanta chapter of CreativeMornings, and still occasionally provides support (but mostly donut-eating assistance) for the monthly breakfast lecture series. Hello, I am Brit, a cheerful Atlantan with an eye for beauty and a head for strategy.

Hello, I’m Brit, in brief, a designer, brand strategist, writer, photographer and intern wrangler currently working at Matchstic, an Atlanta-based identity studio.

Hello I’m Brit, in brief, a budding yogi, audacious reader and damn good pep-talker, but given that you’ve landed on my portfolio... a lead identity designer at an Atlanta-based branding studio, called Matchstic, might make most sense.

Welcome to the portfolio of Brit Blankenship, a lead identity designer at Atlanta-based branding firm, Matchstic.

I grew up solving puzzles and orchestrating neighborhood plays, then learned storytelling by studying photojournalism, magazines and design at the University of Georgia.

With an eye for beauty and a head for strategy, I found my sweet spot in the world of branding where I tackle naming, messaging, brand strategy and design projects for a variety of start-ups, non-profits and corporate clients.

I am fascinated by the world surrounding me, and thrive when connecting the seemingly unrelated.

Outside the studio, I help run CreativeMornings, and tend to books, yoga and my window-sill garden.

I believe in beautiful strategy and smart design. / I believe process breeds magic. / I believe in work that is simple yet profound. / I believe culture shapes brands and brands shape culture. / I believe that meaning is essential and design is powerful.

Hello, I am Brit, a designer living in Atlanta.

I currently spend my days as lead identity designer at Matchstic. My role also incorporates art direction, naming, brand strategy, writing and leading our intern/fellowship program. I wear the nickname,“switch-hitter,” like a badge of honor.

CreativeMornings is a monthly breakfast lecture series for creatives with a leading chapter in Atlanta. I co-captained the ship for three years, and still occasionally provide support (but mostly donut-eating assistance).

Prior to Matchstic, I accumulated experience at Son&Sons in Atlanta, Moosylvania in St. Louis, and have worked with events, photography and with freelance clients for eight years.

Outside the studio you might find me heading towards wide open spaces, practicing yoga or reading insatiably. I closely and curiously study brand culture and everything that touches it—trends, color theory and psychology compose my current fascinations.

It’s this thirst to learn that first drew me to journalism, and that Michael Beirut also connects to design thinking—"Use design as a secret disguise to infiltrate whatever world you want to go into.“

I believe that the curious students, the deeply immersed practitioners and the experimental meaning-seekers will create our strategic and offbeat brands of tomorrow.
